Hey everyone. It feels good to do something besides another CNJ email…
I needed to do something to break myself out of the boring cycle I had created for myself, so I made a new playlist for you all; this one for the end of a long, hot summer. For these playlists, I have a theme in my head for how I want the whole thing to sound all together, and I go for it. I craft these like soundtracks to a movie almost, and I go through the effort to put them in a very specific order too. I get they might not be for everyone, my music taste can be a little all over the place, but I look back on these afterwards and feel like I achieved what I was going for and am proud of each one. I used to make these pretty often, but I hadn’t felt like I had a reason to again, until recently.
I’ve been busy this summer. I’ve been working plenty, looking for a new job, spending a lot of time with my girlfriend (we’re coming up on two years since we met), reading comics and some novels (Moby Dick was amazing, I’m going to get a tattoo), playing D&D, going to jiu jitsu, and even trying new things like fishing. I’ve been doing a lot, just not really writing.
I’m trying to rediscover what I wanted to do with the Substack, what I want to do next, how to keep things fresh and exciting, and hopefully get more readers. I’ve really gotten into pulp characters recently like Conan, John Carter, and Zorro. I want to share a little about what I’ve been reading with these classic characters, and some of my experiences and memories with them, so check back soon for something about pulp. I’ve also got some thoughts on the return of Berserk after the death of the original writer and artist, Kentaro Miura. And I want to get back into writing and sharing more of my own stuff. I haven’t sat and read my own screenplay I made in college, The Wretched, in quite sometime. It’d be fun to do that with you dedicated readers.
But in the meantime, check out Wrist Lock and go back to the other playlists if you haven’t already heard them before. I’ll talk to you all again soon.

Nice! Part III. But somehow I missed the Part II playlist along the way. Time to listen to both!
